With Penn State on a tear ATS (3-0) and locking themselves into 7th in the Big Ten’s pecking order, this game is to avoid being sent to class with Iowa and Indiana. Northwestern has turned into the Arizona Cardinals of 2005 thru 2007 – every year they’re supposedly on the cusp, and every year their weak pedigree overrides their supposed improvement on paper. Michigan began the season well, and appeared to be a surprise, but punishments from Big Ten powers-that-be Purdue, Wisconsin, and Ohio State have left the Wolverines wondering why no one thinks it’s cool to play Michigan hoops anymore.
Tossing out a 19 point stink bomb to Indiana last week, the Wolverines have performed well ATS, going 8-4 in the role and even better as an Underdog (4-1). Northwestern has held their own as well, going 7-4 ATS with an astonishing 5-0 as a favorite. Shocking as it may seem, this is one of the better spread matchups of the week, and the winner takes his players over 60% for the week. Gotta love college hoops betting!
The Beilien-Carmody matchup is a dream for fans of back-door, low scoring teams that rely on the three-ball. In the 7 previous matchups, the Under is 5-2, with one of the Overs going into overtime, something bettors of the Under just has to hope doesn’t happen. I expect this one to be of the same ilk
